Martin Wieczorek

Martin is a Clinical Psychologist Registrar with experience in the assessment and treatment of a range of issues including mood disorders (e.g. depression), anxiety disorders (e.g. social anxiety, generalised anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder), psychosis, substance abuse, eating disorders (e.g. Bulimia Nervosa), problem gambling and behavioural problems in children. During his training, Martin has gained clinical experience working with inpatients on the psychiatric ward at Bankstown Hospital, as well as working with outpatients at the Bankstown Anxiety Clinic, the University of Technology Sydney Psychology Clinic, and at the Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic at the University of Sydney. Martin has gained extensive experience working with both individuals and groups. He works primarily from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) perspective, however also has experience in the provision of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) groups for individuals experiencing difficulties regulating their emotions and/or relationship difficulties, as well as helping parents manage behavioural difficulties in young children using Parent Management Training (PMT).

In addition to his private practice work at Peter Walker and Associates, Martin is continuing his work at the Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic, focusing on the provision of DBT groups for members of the Aboriginal Community in Western Sydney.

Martin has completed a Masters of Clinical Psychology from the University of Technology Sydney, a Bachelor of Science (Honours First Class) in Psychology from the University of Sydney, and a Bachelor of Jazz Performance from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.  Furthermore, Martin holds full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PSY0001890648) and is an associate member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association.
