Peter Walker and Associates will be running an 8-week evidenced-based group treatment program for depression, commencing on Thursday, 1st October 2015. This program incorporates key principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness based approaches, which have been demonstrated to be effective in treating depression. The aim of the group is to provide clients with a broad range of skills to address their maladaptive thoughts, behaviours and emotions.
Start Date: Thursday 1st October 2015.
End Date: 3rd December 2015.
Time: Thursday evenings, from 5 – 6.00pm.
Location: 209a Avoca Street, Randwick.
Cost for Medicare Clients:
Medicare allows individuals to claim a rebate for up to 10 group sessions in addition to the individual sessions usually delivered in as part of Mental Health Care Plans.
Treatment involves, 8 x 60min weekly group sessions. There will be a one-off fee of $800 (8 sessions), which will be charged at the start of the first session. However, at the end of each attended session, clients with a Mental Health Care Plan will be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate of $31.65. Therefore, the cost of each group session (60mins) will be $68.35.
Clinician Facilitating The Program
Dr Adrian Allen completed his PhD and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of New South Wales. He has been working since 2010 at Peter Walker and Associates and The Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression (CRuFAD). He is also lecturer for the NSW Institute of Psychiatry.
Trish Mood will be co-facilitating the groups. She is a Psychology intern who is contributing to the design and running of groups at Peter Walker and Associates.
